DISCLAIMER: If you own/run a business, you need to read this, Reader.
So, without trying to discourage you from reading the newsletter I wrote, I’m also ok with you pasting it into an LLM so you get the point.
Taylor J here again.
I watched a video last week that sent me down a rabbit hole.
It opened with things like:
“A kid born today will never be smarter than AI.”
- Sam Altman
“Money won’t matter in 2036.”
- Elon Musk
And then, last week, Greg Brockman ended the GPT-6 Astra briefing with:
“Welcome to the AGI era.”
Normal stuff.
Definitely nothing to have an Orwellian/Huxleyan existential crisis about.
There’s a massive debate happening right now about whether we’ve actually reached Artificial General Intelligence yet.
I’m not particularly interested in settling it in this email.
Because if you run a normal business, the AGI debate is a distraction. (no tinfoil hats here, promise!)
AI is already good enough to change what your business can do.
That's the bit that you need to think about every day right now.
And I think a lot of business owners are missing it because the whole AI conversation has become ridiculously complicated.
Claude Code. Cursor. Codex. Agents. GitHub. Vercel. MCPs. WTF?
Someone tells you one model is incredible on Monday. By Thursday, someone else says it’s obsolete.
If you're trying to run a business at the same time, where the hell do you even start?
Here's my oversimplified answer:
Stop trying to understand all of AI. Pick something you've wanted to get done for ages and use AI to do it.
That's it.
We've accidentally become a pretty good case study for this.
At the beginning of this year, most of what we were using AI for at Growth Experts was fairly predictable.
Writing, researching, prospecting, etc…
Helping us manage outreach campaigns faster.
Nine-ish months later, we're using agents to help us build websites, create interactive lead magnets, automate internal processes, produce polished sales material, analyse data and ship things that we'd previously have needed completely different skill sets to do.
For example, Jason has been building our new Growth Experts website in his spare time over a few weeks.
Sneak peek:
A website project like this used to be a project.
Designers. Developers. Meetings. Feedback rounds. More feedback rounds.
“Can we just move this slightly to the left?”
Then, six weeks later:
“Actually, put it back.”
Now one reasonably technical marketer with a decent design brain and a few AI tools can get remarkably far on their own.
And that's what I think most people are underestimating.
AI doesn't only make the work you already do faster.
It lets you attempt work you previously wouldn't have attempted at all.
That's a HUGE shift. And it’s literally all in your mindset.
So here's something to try that’ll get you going
Open your notes app.
Write down five things you've wanted to get done in your business but haven't had the time, money, or expertise to do.
Maybe it's:
- Build a landing page for that service you've never properly promoted.
- Shortlist 25 perfect-fit prospects every Monday.
- Turn the weird process that currently lives inside Dave's head into an actual workflow.
- Create proper SOPs for your team.
- Analyse 12 months of customer enquiries and figure out what people actually keep asking you for.
- Build a calculator, assessment or useful little tool for your website (HINT: like the one in this email’s footer).
Pick one thing from the list.
Then give yourself an afternoon.
Open ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, whatever you already have access to, and explain what you're trying to make.
If you don't know what to ask it, literally say:
“I have no idea how to build this. Help me work out what I need to do first.”
When it says something you don't understand:
“Explain that to me like I've never written a line of code in my life.
When you get stuck:
“I'm stuck./I don’t understand this. What should I do next?”
That's one of the weirdest things about working with these tools.
Not knowing how to do something is becoming less of a blocker.
You can ask the thing helping you do the work how to use the thing helping you do the work.
Very recursive.
Very 2026.
We built something you can try right now.
One of the things we've recently built is a free SEO + GEO snapshot tool.
Put your website into it and we'll analyse how accessible and understandable your site is to traditional search engines and AI platforms like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Google AI (Gemini).
It checks things like crawl access, titles and metadata, schema, robots, snippets, and how easily your content can actually be extracted and understood.
Then it tells you what's wrong, what matters, and what you should fix first.
A year or two ago, “we should build a tool that analyses someone's website and generates a personalised report” would probably have lived in the cool idea, maybe someday pile.
Now you can just… build the thing. In a couple of days
That's really my point.
You don't need to know whether we've technically reached AGI.
You don't need to understand every model release.
And you definitely don't need another 47-page LinkedIn carousel explaining which AI tool won somebody's benchmark this week. (As a recovering “LinkedIn Guy”, this kind of content is killing me these days)
Find one thing that would make your business better.
Then see how far you can get.
You might surprise yourself.

P.S. If you do build something interesting, reply and send it to me. I’d love to see it.
